Reduced order model for nonlinear multi-directional ocean wave propagation

In this paper, we introduce a reduced order model (ROM) for the propagation of nonlinear multi-directional ocean wave-fields. The ROM relies on Galerkin projection Zakharov equations embedded in high-order spectral (HOS) method, which describes evolution waves. dominant flow features wave are computed from proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) and these modes used projection. HOS scheme to compute vertical velocity is treated novel way an efficient implementation POD-based ROM. We refer alternative formalism as HOS-simple. final derived For case irregular waves, where number required range 200, has no significant advantage since both HOS-simple much faster than real-time. real demonstrated (or short-crested) only capable achieving real-time computation, major improvement standard method. potential use propagating short-crested waves far-field near-field real-world applications involving probes tank/controlled environment well X-band radar open also demonstrated.
